SAIRA SHAH HALIM
Saira Shah Halim is an award-winning social activist, educator, writer and political leader known for her fearless advocacy of gender justice, secularism and human rights. After a successful corporate career, she transitioned full-time into activism, playing a prominent role in movements ranging from farmers’ protests to LGBTQ+ rights and anti-CAA advocacy. In 2022, she contested the Ballygunge by-election on a CPI(M) ticket, significantly increasing the party’s vote share and gaining national attention. A columnist, TEDx speaker and international delegate, she is the author of Comrades and Comebacks (2025) and continues to be a powerful progressive voice in Indian public life.
ലിംഗനീതി, മതേതരത്വം, മനുഷ്യാവകാശം എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് വേണ്ടി പോരാടുന്ന സാമൂഹിക പ്രവര്ത്തകയും അധ്യാപികയും രാഷ്ട്രീയ നേതാവുമാണ് സൈറ ഷാ ഹലീം. കോര്പ്പറേറ്റ് മേഖലയിലെ ഉന്നതപദവി ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചാണ് അവര് സാമൂഹിക പ്രവര്ത്തനത്തിലേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങിയത്. കര്ഷക പ്രക്ഷോഭങ്ങള് മുതല് എല്.ജി.ബി.ടി.ക്യു അവകാശങ്ങള് വരെയുള്ള നിരവധി പോരാട്ടങ്ങളില് അവര് മുന്പന്തിയിലുണ്ട്. 2022-ല് ബാലിഗഞ്ച് ഉപതിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില് സി.പി.ഐ (എം) സ്ഥാനാര്ത്ഥിയായി മത്സരിച്ച് ദേശീയ ശ്രദ്ധ നേടി. 'കോമ്രേഡ്സ് ആന്ഡ് കംബാക്ക്സ്' (2025) എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ രചയിതാവായ അവര് ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പുരോഗമന പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലെ പ്രമുഖ സാന്നിധ്യമാണ്.
