Galfar Mohamed Ali
Parambathekandi Mohamed Ali, better known as P. Mohamed Ali, is a prominent non-resident Indian businessman and philanthropist born in Thalikulam, Thrissur. In 1972, he co-founded Galfar Engineering and Contracting in Oman, which evolved from a small construction firm into the country's largest private sector employer. Under his leadership, Galfar became a "Preferred Partner in Development" for Oman, managing a turnover of over US$1 billion and employing more than 20,000 people. His contributions to the nation’s infrastructure were so significant that the Oman Government honored him with the "Civil Order Grade Three." Beyond his business success, Ali is highly regarded for his extensive philanthropic work in both Oman and India. He pioneered several educational institutions, including the Caledonian College of Engineering and Oman Medical College in Oman, and Yenepoya University in India. He also established foundations like the P M Foundation and the Social Advancement Foundation of India (SAFI) to promote educational and social development among youth. He remains a significant figure in the Gulf business community, known for bridging economic and social ties between India and Oman.
മണലാരണ്യത്തില് പ്രതിസന്ധികളോട് പടവെട്ടി സാമ്രാജ്യം പടുത്തുയര്ത്തിയ പ്രവാസ വ്യവസായ പ്രമുഖന്. തൃശൂരിലെ തളിക്കുളം സ്വദേശിയാണ് ഗള്ഫാര് മുഹമ്മദ് അലി എന്ന പി. മുഹമ്മദ് അലി. ജീവകാരുണ്യപ്രവര്ത്തനങ്ങളിലും സജീവം. 1972-ല് അദ്ദേഹം ഒമാനില് 'ഗള്ഫാര് എഞ്ചിനീയറിംഗ് ആന്ഡ് കോണ്ട്രാക്റ്റിംഗ്' എന്ന സ്ഥാപനം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. ഒരു ചെറിയ നിര്മാണ കമ്പനിയായി തുടങ്ങിയ ഗള്ഫാര്, പില്ക്കാലത്ത് ഒമാനിലെ സ്വകാര്യ മേഖലയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ തൊഴില്ദാതാവായി വളര്ന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില് ഒമാന്റെ വികസനത്തിലെ സജീവ പങ്കാളിയായി മാറിയ ഗള്ഫാര്ച് 100 കോടി യുഎസ് ഡോളറിലധികം വിറ്റുവരവും ഇരുപതിനായിരത്തിലധികം ജീവനക്കാരുമുള്ള വന്കിട സ്ഥാപനമായി മാറി. ഒമാന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാന സൗകര്യ വികസനത്തിന് നല്കിയ സംഭാവനകള് പരിഗണിച്ച് ഒമാന് സര്ക്കാര് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് 'സിവില് ഓര്ഡര് ഗ്രേഡ് ത്രീ' ബഹുമതി നല്കി. ഒമാനിലും ഇന്ത്യയിലുമുള്ള അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ജീവകാരുണ്യ പ്രവര്ത്തനങ്ങള് ഏറെ ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ്. ഒമാനിലെ കാലിഡോണിയന് കോളേജ് ഓഫ് എഞ്ചിനീയറിംഗ്, ഒമാന് മെഡിക്കല് കോളേജ്, ഇന്ത്യയിലെ യെനെപോയ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളുടെ രൂപീകരണത്തിന് നേതൃത്വം നല്കി. യുവാക്കളുടെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസപരവും സാമൂഹികവുമായ പുരോഗതി ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കി പി.എം ഫൗണ്ടേഷന്, സോഷ്യല് അഡ്വാന്സ്മെന്റ് ഫൗണ്ടേഷന് ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ (SAFI) തുടങ്ങിയ സംഘടനകളും അദ്ദേഹം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. ഇന്ത്യയും ഒമാനും തമ്മിലുള്ള സാമ്പത്തിക-സാമൂഹിക ബന്ധങ്ങള് ദൃഢമാക്കുന്നതില് പ്രധാന പങ്ക് വഹിച്ചു.
