E. SANTHOSH KUMAR

E. Santhosh Kumar occupies a unique style and space in contemporary writing. He was born in 1969 in Pattikkadu, a small village in the Thrissur district. He has published more than twenty-five books, including short-story collections, novels, translations, children’s literature, and collections of essays.

He has received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award twice: for the short-story collection Chaavukali in 2006 and for the novel Andhakaranazhi in 2012. Kaakkaradeshathe Urumbukal won the Kerala State Institute of Children’s Literature Award in 2011. The English translation of Andhakaranazhi was shortlisted for the Crossword Award in 2016. He received a Special Jury Mention from the Kerala State Film Awards Committee in 2017. His novel Thapomayiyude Achhan won the Vayalar Award in 2025.

His major works include Andhakaranazhi, Vaakkukal, Jnanabharam, Chaavukali, Moonnu Andhanmaar Aanaye Vivarikkunnu, Naarakangalude Upama, Chidambararahasyam, Thankachan Manjakkaaran, Paavakalude Veedu, and Thapomayiyude Achhan.
