Varghese K George is Currently Deputy Resident Editor of The Hindu, in New Delhi. Varghese was earlier political editor of the paper, and between 2015 and 2018, the US representative.

He was Chief of Bureau at Hindustan Times and a Senior Editor with the Indian Express. Vagrhese has been Journalist of the Year, Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism and winner of the Prem Bhatia Award for Excellence in Political Reporting and Analysis. He has an M. Phil in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University and an MA in Modern Indian History from Delhi University.

His book Open Embrace: India-US ties in the age of Modi and Trump (Penguin Viking, October 2018) is an exploration of how domestic politics are reshaping the strategic priorities of the world’s oldest and the biggest democracies and their relations.
