Swapna Gopinath is an Associate Professor of Film and Cultural Studies at Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Pune. She is a Fulbright fellow, and a UGC research awardee and she has completed her postdoctoral research at the School for Media and Cultural Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. She writes about cinema and culture, focusing on the ideological dimensions, especially in the context of contemporary India. She has published in both academic and popular journals and is currently working on three edited texts, with Bloomsbury, South Asian Popular Culture and the University of California Press.
