Pravin Sawhney is the author of four books: The Last War: How AI Will Shape India’s Final Showdown With China (August 2022); Dragon on Our Doorstep: Managing China Through Military Power (co-authored with Ghazala Wahab) in 2017; Operation Parakram: The War Unfinished (co-authored with Lt Gen. V.K. Sood) in 2002; and The Defence Makeover: Ten Myths That Shape India’s Image published in 2001.
He has been a visiting fellow at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies, London and a visiting scholar at Sandia National Laboratories sponsored Cooperative Monitoring Centre, Albuquerque, United States.
He has been the editor of FORCE newsmagazine from 2003-2022. He was the South Asia correspondent for International Defence Review (of Jane’s Information Group).
He has worked with numerous Indian newspapers: as the Defence Editor with the Asian Age, as a special correspondent with the Indian Express; and as the defence correspondent with The Times of India.
He was commissioned officer in the Indian Army (artillery) for 14 years after which he took pre-mature retirement to pursue journalism.
