Riga-born Nora Ikstena is a Latvian writer. She was one of the first writers to introduce feminism ideology in Latvia. She studied at the University of Latvia. Her debut novel Celebration of Life (1998), written in Latvian, was translated into several languages. Nora has written more than 20 books including many short stories, fairy tales, novels and biographies. Her recent novel Soviet Milk was translated into English and published by Peirene Press.
