Mateo García Elizondo

"Mateo García Elizondo is one of the young writers in Spanish literature. Grandson of Spanish journalist and novelist Gabriel García Márquez, Mateo has written for magazines such as Nexos, Cuadernos Hispanoamericanos, Quimera and National Geographic Traveler. He had also written the screenplay for the feature film, Desierto (2015), and also for some short films and comics. His debut novel, Una cita con la lady (2019), won the City of Barcelona award and has been translated into half a dozen languages. He was selected by Granta Magazine as one of the Best Young Spanish Language Writers in 2021. Mateo holds an undergraduate degree in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Westminster and a post-graduate degree in Journalism from the London School of Journalism."
