Malachi Edwin Vethamani

Malachi Edwin Vethamani is a poet, writer, editor, critic, bibliographer and Emeritus Professor at the University of Nottingham. His poetry publications in 2022 include: 'Rambutan Kisses', 'The Seven O’clock Tree' and 'Love and Loss'. His other poetry publications include Life Happens (2017) and Complicated Lives (2016). He has a collection of short stories titled Coitus Interruptus and Other Stories (2018). In 2021 he edited a volume of Asian short stories on the theme of the Covid-19 pandemic titled Best Asian Short Stories (Singapore: Kitaab). He has edited five volumes of Malaysian writings in English. The first volume, In-Sights: Malaysian Poems in 2004, the second and third anthologies cover over 60 years of Malaysian writings in English, Malchin Testament: Malaysian Poems (2018) and Ronggeng-Ronggeng: Malaysian Short Stories (2020). The Malaysian Publishers Association awarded Malchin Testament: Malaysian Poems the best book award for the English Language category in 2020. In 2021, he published Malaysian Millennial Voices, a collection of poems from Malaysian poets under 35 years of age and in 2022 he published The Year of the Rat and Other Poems, an edited volume of winning Malaysian poems from the Malaysian Poetry Writing Competition 2021.
