Leela Sarkar
Leela Sarkar is an Indian Malayalam writer and translator. She translated several books written by Bengali writers into Malayalam. She worked at Jahangir Art Gallery for more than nine years. Later, she served as the executive in the Bombay office of the C.R.Y. Charitable Society. He a recipient of several awards including Vivarthaka Ratnam award, Sahitya Akademi Translation Prize and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Translation.
പെനാംഗില്‍ ജനിച്ചു. അച്ഛന്‍ ഡോ. കെ.കെ. മേനോന് അവിടെ റബ്ബര്‍ എസ്റ്റേറ്റിലായിരുന്നു ഉദ്യോഗം. തൃശ്ശൂര്‍ സെന്റ് മേരീസ് കോളേജ്, മഹാരാജാസ് കോളേജ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളില്‍ പഠനം. 1969-ല്‍ ദീപേഷ് സര്‍ക്കാറിനെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു. 1978-ല്‍ ജനയുഗത്തില്‍ ആദ്യപരിഭാഷ പ്രസിദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തി. 1994-ല്‍ കേന്ദ്ര സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമിയുടെ പരിഭാഷയ്ക്കുള്ള അവാര്‍ഡ്, 2000-ല്‍ കേരള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി അവാര്‍ഡ്, 2010-ല്‍ സി.പി. മേനോന് സ്മാരക അവാര്‍ഡ്, 2015-ല്‍ വിവര്‍ത്തകരത്നം തുടങ്ങിയവ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. രബീന്ദ്രനാഥ ടാഗോര്‍, ശരച്ചന്ദ്ര ചാറ്റര്‍ജി, മുന്‍ഷി പ്രേംചന്ദ്, വനഫൂല്‍, ബിഭൂതിഭൂഷണ്‍, ബുദ്ധദേവഗുഹ, സത്യജിത് റായ് തുടങ്ങിയവരുടേതുള്‍പ്പെടെ എഴുപതോളം കൃതികള്‍ പരിഭാഷപ്പെടുത്തി.
