Alvin Pang

Dr Alvin Pang is an award-winning poet, writer, editor, anthologist, translator, researcher and mentor whose broad creative practice spans three decades of literary activity in Singapore and elsewhere. His writings have been translated into more than twenty languages worldwide, including Swedish, Macedonian, Croatian, Chinese and French. Alvin’s first volume of poems ‘Testing of Silence’ was listed as one of the Top Ten Books of 1997 by The Straits Times and shortlisted for the National Book Development Council of Singapore Award in 1998-99. He was named Young Artist of the Year (Literature) in 2005 by the National Arts Council Singapore. He was featured in the Oxford Companion to Modern Poetry in English and the Penguin Book of the Prose Poem. His bestselling books are What Gives Us Our Names (2011), What Happened: Poems 1997-2017 (2017), and more recent works such as Uninterrupted time (2019) and Det som ger oss våra namn (2022). He is a 2022 Civitella Ranieri Fellow and Dublin Literary Award judge. He serves on the boards of several literary institutions.
